Museo Jumex in Mexico City is the largest contemporary art museum in Latin America. Following the museum’s move to a new location and the construction of a new building designed by David Chipperfield Architects. We designed and developed a website that approached the museum’s content with architecture in mind. Utilizing the museum’s stark installation photography as a starting point, we created an immersive and at times surprising experience that translates a visitor’s trip through the galleries to the space of a browser.
Built with our flexible content management system, Economy, the site draws content from across the museum’s database to create pages that feature rich related content and that are highly configurable by staff. The site also features immersive ‘virtual tours’ of exhibitions and allows curators to create custom groupings of artworks from the permanent collection. These thematic groupings become a way of highlighting works not currently on view.
